2
Click "Start" and click the "Computer" option in the list. Double-click the "USB Drive" entry to open a folder for the USB drive

4
Plug the drive into one of the USB ports on the CaptiveWorks receiver.
5

How to Update Software for an FTA Receiver

How to Update Software for an FTA Receiver

In a field where it's not uncommon for satellite broadcast to go offline and or to be updated with new protocols, free-to-air rerceiver software updates can help your satellite receiver to stay relevant as long as possible in the ever-changing landscape of the free to air satellite television. Software updates can correct receiver glitches, update the receiver's menu and, in some cases, even upgrade the receiver's compatibility with new audio/video stream formats. And while firmware updates are not frequently produced, when they are available, you should seriously consider installing them.

Instructions
Via USB
1
Visit your free-to-air receiver manufacturer's support page, and download the latest software update for your receiver.
2
Use the Windows ZIP Utility to extract the update from it's ZIP file container. Copy the software update to a USB jump drive, and then insert the drive into the USB port on your receiver.

3
Use your remote control to launch the receiver's onscreen menu. Locate the update on the USB drive and then install it.
4
Download and install the software update loader tool--you can find the loader tool online on the receiver manufacturer's support page.
5
Connect your satellite receiver to your computer via a RS-232 serial cable--connect the cable between the serial ports on both devices. Power on the satellite receiver.
6
Click on the port selection option and in the loader utility, and set the serial communication port number--unless you have more than one serial port, it should be "Com1."
7
Locate the update file on your computer using loader utility file explorer. And you've located the update, click on the loader option to send the update to your receiver.
Tips & Warnings
To avoid damaging your free to air receiver, only update your receiver with software provided by the manufacturer. If you decide to use third party software, vet the software's source for legitimacy to avoid installing an update embedded with a virus.

How to Update an Azbox FTA Receiver

How to Update an Azbox FTA Receiver
Azbox FTA receivers act as a part of your satellite system to acquire free-to-air or FTA programming. FTA receivers, including Azbox models, require updates to the software to remain in touch with the various satellites. Unlike other FTA technology, the built-in Ethernet port allows Azbox receivers to quickly scan for updates and install them directly to the receiver. Connect your receiver to your router or modem with an Ethernet cable to discover new updates and transfer them immediately to your system
1
Plug one end of the Ethernet cable into the "Ethernet" port on the rear of the receiver and insert the other end to an Ethernet port on your router or modem.
2
Turn on the Azbox receiver and press the "Home" button on the remote control. Use the arrow keys on the remote to select the "Settings" option and press "OK."

3
Highlight the "Information" option and press "OK." Select the "Firmware Upgrade" entry and press "OK" to search for updates.
4
Highlight the newest update in the list and press "OK." The receiver will automatically download the update and install it to the receiver.

How to Build a Dreambox From a Computer

How to Build a Dreambox From a Computer

Dreambox is a Linux-powered receiver, capable of decoding signals from satellite and digital cable. Because the software that powers the Dreambox is based on Linux, that means that one can basically build Dreambox receiver firmware with their PC, thus adding functionality and/or desired customizations. Tinkering about with firmware requires a fair bit of knowledge on the part of the user, but the actual process of doing so is rather straightforward.

Instructions
1
Install Linux onto the computer. There are many variations and flavors of Linux available, some of the most popular are Ubuntu and Fedora.
2
Update your Linux version once it is installed. Make sure that all the components of your Linux installation are up-to-date by using the Updater utility from the System Administration panel

3
Click on "System", then "Administration", and finally select "Synaptic Package Manager". You will want to install the following packages to allow you to build the Dreamweaver box: cvs, autoconf, automake, libtool, gettext, make, makeinfo, tar, bunzip2, gunzip, patch, infocmp, gcc, g++, flex, bison, pkg-config, wget, libpng2 or 3, and the FTP server of your choice
4
Download the Dreambox software image that matches the specs of the box you are building. This software can be found at such websites as Dreambox4u.com or Digital Video Broadcasting Tools.
5
Compile the image once you have made the necessary changes and use the "Make Flash-compress" command to create the image that you can use to flash your Dreambox with your new custom build

How to Hook a USB Drive to a TV Box

How to Hook a USB Drive to a TV Box
If you currently have a digital video recorder (DVR), you may have noticed that they do not give you a very big hard drive to store all of your programs. Increasing the amount of disk space allows you to greatly increase the amount of programming you can save on your DVR. You do not have to open the DVR box in order to take advantage of extra disk space. All you need is a universal serial bus (USB) port.
Instructions

Power off your DVR completely.
2
Connect a USB portable hard drive to the USB slot located on the back of the DVR.
3
Turn on the USB portable hard drive. If it requires external power, plug it into an outlet.
4
Power on the DVR. The DVR will recognize a USB drive is attached and ask you to format the drive.
5
Click "Yes." The drive is formatted and is available for recording shows. cheap wholesale from China

How to Plug a Satellite TV Into a Digibox

How to Plug a Satellite TV Into a Digibox The DigiBox from Sky is a British-based satellite television provider. The content does not work in the United States (as the satellite is oriented for use in the UK). Connecting the DigiBox to a satellite television is no different than hooking up other satellite receivers. The cables used are the same, so even if you are familiar with American-based satellite receivers, you shouldn't have a problem with plugging the equipment together. Instructions Connect the RCA audio cables into the "Audio Out" port on the DigiBox receiver. Insert the free ends of the cables into the "Audio In" ports on the satellite ready television. 2 Attach the component cables into the "Component Out" ports on the DigiBox satellite receiver. Insert the other ends of the cables into the "Component In" ports on the satellite ready television set. 3 Power on the Sky DigiBox receiver, then the TV and choose "Component Video" from the list of inputs. The DigitBox satellite content appears on the television set. cheap wholesale from China

How Do I Get Satellite TV to Work on Our Bedroom TV?

How Do I Get Satellite TV to Work on Our Bedroom TV?
You can watch satellite television anywhere in your home. This includes the upstairs attack all the way down to your basement. However, when using satellite to obtain your television programs, you do need to have a satellite receiver connected to the television. This includes a TV in your bedroom, if you enjoy watching TV before going to bed or while getting dressed for work.
Instructions

Contact your satellite provider and ask for a receiver to be installed in your bedroom. You need to set up an available day and time frame for when the satellite technician can stop by and install the satellite dish attachment for the extra room and set up the receiver.
2
Connect the coaxial cable running out of the wall in your bedroom into the "In" port on the rear of the satellite receiver.
3
Plug the three RCA cables into the "Video Out" ports on the satellite receiver. Make sure the yellow cable is inserted into the yellow port and the red and white ones are plugged into the red and white ports.
4
Connect the other end of the RCA cables into the "Video In" ports on the back of the television.
5
Power on the receiver box and the television, then press the "Input" button and select "Video." You can now view the satellite receiver on your TV.cheap wholesale from China
