Decorating a Christmas tree with LED lights has several advantages. LED lights give off no heat, so they are safer for real Christmas trees, rugs, walls and hardwood floors. LED lights draw less energy, which makes them more cost effective to use. You can also program some models of LED lights to change colors, flash and execute chase patterns. With the flexibility of LED Christmas lights also comes the need to plan out your scheme.

Look at Christmas light displays you come across daily to see what sizes and shapes of LED Christmas lights you want to put on your tree. LED lights come in the same sizes as standard Christmas lights, notes Christmas Light Source. Because LED lights give off no heat, some manufacturers are able to offer decorative lights in different shapes such and designs made from plastic light covers. According to Holiday LEDs, your best option for light spacing on your LED light strings is 4 or 6 inches.

Draw a diagram of sample light patterns so you can decide which ones you want to use for the lights. If you will be using programmable lights done in a specific chase pattern, then you will want the lights on and running when you put them on the tree so that you get the correct pattern when you are done. Try to use different light hanging patterns other than wrapping the lights around the tree. For example, try draping the lights on the tree starting at the top and looping down to the bottom.

3.Start placing of the LED lights on the Christmas tree at the bottom. Use an extension cord to reach the tree to prevent lights from hanging off the bottom of the tree. Lay the lights on the top of the branches. Wrapping them around the branches can make the lights look bunched up and disorganized.

Lay the lights 2 to 3 inches inside the tree on each branch. Because LED lights give off no heat, it is safe to lay them inside the tree slightly to hide the lights and the wires.

Check all sides of the tree to make sure the LED lights are lying on the branches uniformly.

How to Use LED Lighting on Motorcycles

There are three basic types of LED lighting available for your motorcycle: accent lights that can be mounted anywhere, pre-formed accent lights that correspond to particular makes and models of motorcycles, and LEDs that replace stock lighting.
When it comes to universal LEDs that can be mounted anywhere on your motorcycle, there are many options available. You can choose pods, small clusters of LEDs available with varying numbers of LEDs; light bars, strips of LEDs for mounting in long, narrow areas; flexible arrays, similar to light bars but flexible for mounting to curved surfaces; and single LED bulbs. And LED lighting comes in every primary color

Replacement Lighting

Replace your stock headlight, taillight and turn signals with LEDs. Because LED bulbs are small, you'll need to purchase an "LED cluster," a group of lights fitted on one housing. Check with your supplier to make sure the cluster you buy fits the make and model of your motorcycle.

If needed, install a load equalizer for your turn signals. Turn signals may need a load equalizer to function properly with LEDs. To verify if you need one, check to see if your bulbs are flashing quicker than normal once the LEDs are installed.

3.To install a load equalizer, mount its two connectors to your turn signal wires, and connect the ground wire. One connector snaps onto the right turn signal wire, and the second connector snaps onto the left turn signal wire. In addition, the ground wire must be connected. Mount the equalizer under your seat, near the battery, and use tie wraps to secure it.

Accent Lighting

Place LEDs underneath your motorcycle. You can use LED bars, long plastic strips with multiple LEDs, to line the bottom of your motorcycle. These usually have an extremely sticky backing so you can stick them onto your bodywork and plug them in. Position the lights so they face straight down, and the ground beneath your motorcycle will be illuminated.

Place LEDs inside your bodywork for added glow. To make your motorcycle look like it's glowing from the inside, place LEDs inside your bodywork. You can put them under your front fairing, inside holes on your side bodywork, or underneath the tailpiece. One of the most useful styles of LED products for this is flexible arrays, which bend to conform to curvy bodywork.

Utilize LEDs with effects. If you plan to turn on LED accent lights when parked or at a motorcycle show, consider LED products that have effects like strobe or fade. These functions are not recommended for use while riding.

You can add LED license plate frames, wheel lights that mount directly to your wheels, exhaust tip lights that snap into place over your exhaust, and more. How to Dim LED Puck Lights

LED puck lights are small, disc-shaped devices with a minimum of one LED bulb. Many of these round lights use battery power to illuminate the bulbs. Some plug into standard 120W home wall sockets. Use of these lights is as simple as turning on the device and adjusting the light to your desired strength. For those plugged into a wall socket, adjustments may be made to dim or strengthen the LED light.

Instructions

Press the power switch or pressure lever to turn on the LED puck lights. For lights with more than one bulb, press the lever numerous times to adjust the brightness.

Press once for dim settings and continue to press for higher brightness settings. The fewer the bulbs illuminated, the dimmer the glow from the LED pucks.

If your LED pucks are powered via 120W wall sockets, turn the dimmer switch counterclockwise to the lower settings. Press the dial to turn the lights off.

How to Put in LEDs in the Controller Ports
The Xbox has an area on the controller ports where LED lights can be inserted. This gives your Xbox a modified look and goes along with a soft-modded or hard-modded Xbox. Adding LED lights to the controller ports helps light the area and makes your Xbox glow. Installing LED lights into the controller ports is an addition that goes well with a custom painted or modified Xbox exterior. You can add LED lights to the controller ports of your Xbox at home.

Instructions

Use a Torx screwdriver to remove the Torx screws under the Xbox. There are screws under the rubber feet on the bottom of the Xbox console. After removing the Torx screws, remove the Xbox cover.

Use a Torx screwdriver to loosen the screws securing the Xbox hard drive and unplug the IDE cable connected to the Xbox hard drive from the Xbox motherboard. Take the hard drive and set it aside. Remove the DVD drive from the Xbox by loosening the Torx screws and removing the cables connecting it to the Xbox motherboard.

3.Unplug the controller port assemblies in the front of the Xbox console. Use a Torx screwdriver to unscrew the screws on either side of the controller port. Pull up on the back of the controller port to loosen it from the Xbox.

Look on the inside of the Xbox, where you removed the controller ports. There will be three small metal tabs used in shielding the controller ports from the motherboard. Take off two tabs on the sides of the controller port. Leave the bottom metal tab in place. Cover the metal tab on the bottom and the exposed metal edge around the controller port.

Use scissors to cut eight lengths of wire that will be sufficient length to reach the controller port from the location the LED will be mounted. Eight inches of wire should be sufficient. Strip the ends of the wires.

Use a soldering iron to solder an end of a wire to the back of the controller port.

Insert the controller ports back into the designated location and test the controller ports to verify that there is no contact between the point on the controller port where you soldered the wire and any other part of the Xbox.

Fold the stripped end of the four wires in half, which will make a small hook. Install the hooks of the wires in with the red wires that are on each controller port. Once the wires have been inserted, plug the controller ports into their designated location. The hooked wires will provide the 5-volt power for the LED lights.

Cut the positive side on the LED lights to about a 1/4 of an inch. Cut the same measurement on one of the sides of each resistor. Usually the positive side of the LED light is round and longer.

Use a soldering iron to solder the short end of the resistor to the short end of the LED light.

Mount your LED lights by using a drill to bore holes so that your LED lights can be mounted in them. Place a drop of glue in the drilled holes and insert your LED lights. Allow the glue to dry. Use a soldering iron to solder the positive and negative pair of wires to the specific LED light.

Replace your Xbox DVD drive and cables. Tighten the Torx screws to secure it into place. Replace the Xbox hard drive and plug the IDE cable back into the back port. Replace the Xbox cover and tighten the Torx screws to secure the cover in place. Turn on your Xbox to see the LED lights power on.

How to Fix a Brinkmann LED Light
Brinkmann LED lights are available in a variety of sizes, brightness and sizes. The company makes flashlight, headlight and spotlight sized LED lights for back-country and recreational use. The LED bulbs are designed to work for a lifetime, with life usage upwards of 10,000 hours. If you have a Brinkmann light that is not working, the trouble most likely rests in the batteries and the connections.

Instructions

Unscrew the battery housing and inspect the metal connecting points for any corrosion or breakage. If corrosion is present, pour some cola into a small cup and dip the toothbrush in the fluid.

Scrub off all corrosion with the cola soaked toothbrush and wipe away excess with a paper towel. If the metal connectors are loose, use a small optical screwdriver to tighten them back into position.

Insert replacement batteries, close the housing and turn the light on to test the repair.

Unscrew the plastic retaining cap on the Brinkmann light if, in fact, a bulb has burned out. Pull the bulb out of the housing. If the bulb is in a grouping of LED bulbs, use a small pair of tweezers to pick out the dead bulb.

Push the new bulb into the old housing. Turn the light on to test the new bulb prior to screwing the retaining cap back onto the light. Not all Brinkmann lights use a screw-on retaining cap.

Tips & Warnings
Some lights have caps that need to be popped out via a small screwdriver along the edges. Spare bulbs are available through Brinkmann (see Resources).

Gardeners have begun to experiment with LED lights set up over germinating plants to stimulate early root growth. The theory is that combining red and green LEDs provides the spectrum of light that encourages plant germination and early seedling growth. Here is a simple design red and blue LED Christmas lights mounted on a plastic storage bin lid.

Instructions
1
Drill rows of quarter-inch holes in the top of the plastic storage bin lid. Drill 10 rows of five lights evenly spaced across the top of the lid. Stagger the rows so that bulbs on adjacent rows are offset to each other.

Plug the LED lights securely into the holes you drilled in the storage bin lid. Insert them from the top so that the bulbs stick out the bottom. On each row, insert two red bulbs and then a blue one. Continue plugging the bulbs in back and forth down the rows until all the bulbs are plugged in.

Plug both strings of lights into the power strip and plug the power strip into the wall to test the installation. If all the lights light up, you are ready to mount the LED.

Cut two three-inch ventilation holes in opposite ends of the storage bin. Mount the small ventilation fan over one of the holes pointed into the box. Plug the fan into the power strip.

Pot your seeds, water them and set them in the bottom of the storage bin to germinate. Snap the lid onto the box and plug in the power strip. Your seedlings will have a well-ventilated and well-lit place to grow. Water the seedlings as needed. When they are grown and ready to transplant, remove them from the box. If you wish to continue growing them indoors you can set the LED lid panel on the table next to them to further stimulate their growth into fully mature plants.

Tips & Warnings
A more expensive solution is to purchase and mount LED full spectrum panels in the box lid or on a frame 12 inches above the growing plants. Either way, LEDs run cooler than other types of grow lights and reduce your energy costs dramatically.
