Interior LED and neon light kits add a personal touch to your Tacoma. They give your truck interior an after-dark appeal that regular, standard lighting does not come close to matching. When combined with under truck lighting effects, the overall night profile is complete. To install LED in your Tacoma and capture that new night look, first purchase the LED kit.
Instructions
1
Check the local traffic ordinances to see whether it is legal to install such kits. Increasingly, they are not permitted by law enforcement. Install a separate switch and mount it near the other controls, so it is accessible while driving.
2.Avoid using the under dash wire from your headlights to attach your LEDs. If you hook them to your regular truck headlights, you can not turn them off while driving without turning off your headlights. That is ill-advised under any circumstances; so, make sure you are not using your headlight wire for your LEDs.
3.Buy an auxiliary light switch that also includes a wiring harness, so you do not have to solder much wiring. Soldering, if not done correctly, can result in weak connections. These weak connections can give you wacky malfunctioning lights just when you want to show them off most.

The three critical LED components are fuse block, relay and switch.
Review and study the wiring diagram that came with your switch and harness. Follow the routing of the positive and negative battery leads. Usually the positive lead routes from the battery, and goes to the fuse block, from the fuse block to the relay, and from the relay to the switch.
5
Use a multi meter to locate the continuous 12-volt power supply. Simply touch the probes to the wires you find under the dash one at a time until the probe reveals the 12-volt power. Next find the 12-volt supply wire when the light switch itself is on. Cut the wires from the original 12-volt power plug. Solder them onto the auxiliary harness that came with the switch.
6
Use wire ties to tie off dangling wires for a neater job.
Mount the relay into one of the relay positions of the auxiliary fuse block. Run/Route the wires back to the inner cab to the switch, and from the switch to the front lights. Most harnesses will give you plenty of wire for routing. Use some plastic, heat shrinking sleeves to cover and weather-protect the connectors.
Tips & Warnings
If your LED comes on when you start the truck, put in a kill switch should you need to quickly turn them off.
Be sure to follow the negative/ground lead to the other negative/ground leads of the wiring diagram that comes with your kit.
